“John Palfreyman AKA “JP” and I became tired of pools getting busted. We were done with too many people being at the pools.  We just wanted a pool for us to ride. JP was one of or the top BMX riders in the country at the time and skating was coming on strong. At the BMX races, JP would ask other racers if they knew of any pools and tell the kids what to look for, like pool equipment and that corrugated aqua fiberglass and privacy fencing. So, the kids would search during the week and come to the next race with their pool intelligence and info. We would go out to meet them and see the pool. Some guys had three or more to show us. We skated the Pink Motel and some other well known pools long before they became known about.”

“The Fireman Pool was on a three day, four day work schedule, which was figured out by the kids from watching his house. The owner was a fireman and had a pretty regular work schedule. So, we were skating in pool heaven a few days a week and then we’d put everything back the way we found it. He had no clue that anyone was ever there.” - Wes Bulldog Humpston
