pondering

Alex Perelson- pondering his landing. image courtesy of: Brian Fick I’ve been reading a book by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He was writing about cheap grace. He wrote that many people live in such a state. “Instead of following Christ, the Christian enjoys the consolation of his grace. This is what I mean by cheap grace. It’s a grace which amounts to the justification of sin without departing from the sinful ways.” In other words- a person can commit & live in sin, because they know that God has forgiven them. Lame. Cheap grace is the grace we bestow upon ourselves. I love reading & pondering these things. My friend Shawn told me, “The very essence of every faith is the same. Time, place & circumstance of the teaching was different.” I understand. Back in the dark ages, people were killing each other exponentially. It was mayhem. I’m sure that the church needed to throw down some rules from on high, to make folks toe the line. It does make sense. I just love to look for the truth in all things. Most of what we see, isn’t really what’s going on…. is it? The Japanese Zen master – Bankei stated, “The farther you enter into the truth, the deeper it is.” I think I’ll quit on that note. This is the time of year to ponder such things. Thanks to Brian Fick for the image. Skate- Ozzie
